Vinyl flooring installers
Sheet vinyl (most people call it lino), glue-down plank and glue-down tile, laid on a floor that’s levelled first. I’m Wayne Carlson. I’ve installed carpet and vinyl for 34 years, the last 12 with my son, and you get the price before anything’s booked.

What vinyl installation costs
Vinyl is priced by the square foot, with a minimum charge, and you get the number when I measure, before anything’s booked. You buy the flooring, and I tell you how much to get. What goes into the price:
- How many square feet
- Levelling or patching the floor underneath
- Taking up and hauling away the old floor
- Moving appliances out and back (not gas ones), and baseboards off and back on
- Picking up your flooring from the store, about $50
Before you call
What people ask me about vinyl floors.
What kinds of vinyl do you install?
Sheet vinyl, glue-down luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and glue-down vinyl tile. Sheet vinyl is my favourite job after carpet. I don’t install click-together plank or laminate: they need a floor that’s almost perfectly flat, and some floors can’t get there.
How much does vinyl flooring installation cost?
It’s priced by the square foot, with a minimum charge, and you get the number when I measure, before anything’s booked. Levelling, taking up the old floor and moving appliances are extras, priced at the same visit. The estimate is free in Mission, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Pitt Meadows, and $100 anywhere else, credited back if you go ahead.
Is sheet vinyl the same as lino?
Most people call sheet vinyl lino, and so did my old business card. Strictly speaking, linoleum is a different material. Sheet vinyl comes off a wide roll, so a small room can often go down in one piece, with no seams to come apart.
Why does the floor need levelling first?
Vinyl shows whatever’s under it: an old floor’s pattern, a joint or a bump will come through. On the Abbotsford job in these photos, I spread levelling compound over the old floor first, then laid the sheet vinyl on top. On a new subfloor, I patch all the joints before anything goes down.
Do you install glue-down vinyl plank?
Yes, glue-down plank and glue-down tile, like the grey tile room in these photos. Anything glue-down, really. That includes vinyl composite tile (VCT) on commercial jobs, mostly through builders. It’s click-together plank I leave alone.
Should I buy the vinyl myself?
Yes. You buy it and I install it. I measure first and tell you how much to get, and I can pick it up from the store for about $50.
What happens where the vinyl meets the carpet?
We pick the finish together when I measure, like a flat metal bar or a nap lock. The Abbotsford room in these photos got a metal strip at the door, where it meets the carpet. If you’re putting new carpet in the next room too, I can do both.
Will you warranty the floor?
Yes, one year on the work, printed on my invoice. If it lifts or opens at a seam within a year because of how I laid it, I come back and fix it. A flaw in the flooring itself goes to the store’s warranty, not mine.
