Flooring installation services
I’m Wayne Carlson, and flooring installation is all I do: carpet in rooms and on stairs, carpet repairs, sheet vinyl, glue-down vinyl plank and tile, and carpet tile and VCT for businesses. I’ve installed for 34 years, the last 12 with my son. No hardwood, laminate or ceramic tile.
- 34 years installing
- One-year warranty on the work
- Every extra priced before we book
Carpet installation and replacement
Carpet’s our number one job. We measure, tell you exactly how much to buy, then lay it, kick it tight and trim it clean. The old carpet comes out and gets hauled away if you need it.
Stair carpet installation
Stairs are the hardest part of any carpet job. You pick the carpet, we put it on every step.
Carpet repair and restretching
Carpet that’s bubbled, rippled or come loose at a seam gets pulled tight again. We patch pet damage and burns too. If we laid it and it bubbles inside a year, the restretch is free.
Vinyl flooring installation
Sheet vinyl (lino, if you’re old school like us) and glue-down vinyl plank and tile. Glue-down only, no click plank. We level and patch the floor first, so nothing shows through.
Commercial carpet tile and VCT
Glue-down carpet tile and VC tile (vinyl composite tile) for commercial spaces. Most of it comes through builders. One was the carpet tile we glued down in a Pitt Meadows warehouse.
Areas we serve
I’m based in Mission and come to you. Free estimates in Mission, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Pitt Meadows. Anywhere else it’s $100, credited back if you go ahead.
Three towns have a carpet page of their own. Mission is home, where I’m based: see carpet installers in Mission. In Maple Ridge I carpeted an open staircase, and I’ve worked in Albion too: see carpet installers in Maple Ridge.
Abbotsford is where I levelled a floor and laid sheet vinyl. For carpet there, see Abbotsford carpet installation.
Before you call
What people ask me on the phone and at the measure.
Do you install hardwood, laminate or ceramic tile?
No. I install carpet and vinyl: carpet in rooms and on stairs, sheet vinyl, glue-down vinyl plank and tile, and carpet tile and VCT for businesses. No hardwood, laminate, click plank or ceramic tile, so if that’s your job, I’d rather tell you now.
Do you sell flooring?
No, I install only. You buy the carpet or vinyl from the store you like, and after I measure I tell you exactly how much to get, so you don’t overbuy. I can pick it up from the store for about $50.
Will you warranty the work?
Yes, a one-year warranty on my workmanship, printed on my invoices. It covers carpet that comes loose or bubbles, which I restretch free, transitions and stair nosing that come loose because of how they were fitted, and vinyl that lifts or opens at a seam because of how it went down. It doesn’t cover pet damage or burns. Vacuum snags and normal wear aren’t covered either, and flaws in the flooring itself fall under the store’s warranty.
How much does flooring installation cost?
Carpet, vinyl and commercial floors are priced by the square foot, with a minimum charge, plus any extras you need. Stairs go by the steps. You get the price at the measure, before anything is booked. The estimate is free in Mission, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Pitt Meadows, and $100 anywhere else, credited back if you go ahead.
What costs extra?
Taking up and hauling away the old floor, moving furniture, fridges and stoves (not gas), taking off and putting back baseboards, picking up your flooring from the store (about $50), and levelling or patching the floor underneath. Every extra is on the quote before we book the day.
How soon can you come out?
Usually within 2 to 3 days of your call. If you’re in a panic, call and I’ll see what I can arrange. You hear from me by text or phone the whole way, because I answer my own phone.
Who does the work?
I do, with my son, who’s worked with me for 12 years. No subcontractors and no crew sent by a store: the person who measures your floor is the person who installs it.
Do you do businesses as well as homes?
Yes. Glue-down carpet tile, carpet plank and VCT for commercial spaces, mostly through builders. The herringbone carpet plank on my commercial page went into a warehouse unit in Pitt Meadows.
Does the floor underneath need work first?
Sometimes. Vinyl shows any bump or joint underneath, so I level and patch the floor before it goes down, like the Abbotsford room on my vinyl page. Carpet on concrete goes down on smooth edge, which costs a bit more. Whatever your floor needs is on the quote before we book.
